If we were connected via FB (which is unlikely because I practically do not exist there), you’d know that my recent status shouts out how I  hate dislike those who mirror me. I have also blogged about this before (in my dormant Wordpress page) – I have always been a favorite target for impersonation.

For the life of me, I have no idea why me.

When it comes to that point when I realize I see myself in this other person, the initial reaction is denial, which then shifts to disbelief. Flattery would be a cliché.

I love being me and I guess some people love being me, too.

Sometimes, I have this random thought that maybe, had I been a famous person or celebrity – I’d be a very good endorser since somehow, I have a tendency to influence others, to the point that these others will duplicate everything I do, say, think, want, or use.

Physical appearance is easy to “Xerox.”  What takes time to mirror are character and personality. Now, if the supposed flattery advances to that level, I’d be prompt to shift from disbelief to hatred.

I am not quite certain, but I think one of the reasons why I have always been prone to hacking and online impostors snatching my email addresses and social networking accounts is that unexplainable (and probably subconscious) itch to become me (i.e., on the part of my “fan”). Again, for the life of me — I do not know why.

Now, enough of me and my rants.

If we were to talk about freelance writing (which we should really be doing in this blog), I’d say it s*cks big time to see your published work being passed on as somebody else’s. Plagiarism is an absolute no-no.

Whenever I stumble upon writers who commit this crime, my brows meet and I often mumble, “Does s/he really think s/he can get away with “owning” this stuff and earning from it?”

Think again. You may not be the best freelance writer, but you can absolutely earn without cheating your way. We all have our own unique ways of expressing our thoughts – that will always spell the difference (and you should be technically armed too, of course). Besides, wouldn’t you feel much prouder if you’ve been recognized or appreciated for something you really churned from the pits of your creativity and sheer writing prowess?
