So, yeah… that’s a line from the animated flick, Despicable Me (still showing as of this post). It was so easy to fall for that big-eyed, little girl Agnes who threw this question at the main character, Gru (a huge guy with long, slender legs who lives in a spooky house, drives a rocket car, and carries a retractable blaster and freeze ray in his pocket).

Gru adopted Agnes and two other orphans, Margo and Edith as part of his evil plan to steal the moon and claim his place as the villain to beat. He was enumerating the house rules, which restricted the kids from doing all things annoying when Agnes innocently interrupted him with the question, “Does this count as annoying?” She playfully drummed-popped her cheeks, which then produced a sound that Gru immediately confirmed as annoying.

She’s adorable. Check out the video below for her famous line, “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!!!

Now, if only the supposedly more mature people would ask the same question before they do anything blatant, bold, or aggressive. Online forums have house rules. If the house rules are not made explicit – it is expected that as adults, forum members should already know what conduct is socially acceptable or not. If you have ill feelings toward another person in the group, broadcasting your thoughts for the world to see is unethical. Send that person a private message and settle whatever needs to be settled without going public.

It’s the same banana when you just simply have to have an audience for your public display of kabibohan (innate wit) to the point of being obnoxious. It could be that the intentions were sincere, the delivery of the message just didn’t help (choice of words, emoticon used, punctuations). Making one frown just by reading your post SHOULD be penalized with a warn increase (if we’re talking about EPH). Being assertive and taking the initiative score high as qualities, which any boss or employer will not fail to overlook especially if that person proves to be an asset to the company. Now, if the intention is to brag less of the credibility (because it’s still too early to make the evaluations, character references/credentials are still unverified, or there’s simply lack/absence of it), all that’s gained is this — annoyed moderators.

I am tasked as the MWF evening moderator of Essays.ph on top of my main job as an editor. Editors have to deal with a lot of articles in a day. Now, imagine “visiting” the forums once in a while to break the monotony and you find yourself reading posts that count as annoying. How will a stressed-out, work-at-home mom feel looking at threads with notes that test one’s Emotional Quotient?

We are not required to submit proof of good conduct here. But, we are expected to KNOW how to properly interact and mingle. Nobody is stopping anybody from showing off his or her potential and achievements or professional status. What company wouldn’t want the best in its roster, right? We are all entitled to our own opinions and the threads are open for your suggestions and recommendations (or rants, even!).

Just one teeny-weeny thing before you type any post…

Throw this question in the air first – “Does this count as annoying?”
