An Ode to the Writers Cafeteria

I am sorry to say this, but I don’t want to write another essay about  “My EPH adventure”. Not that I don’t want to share my own experience here, but I think there are more entertaining topics to talk about for the next five minutes. Although I cannot guarantee you that you will have a good time, I just hope that you will at least stay awake until the end of this crappy post. So here I begin.

I have to say that I really enjoy the Writers Cafeteria; whether I’m bored, taking a break from writing an assignment, or just plain lazy, I always find myself clicking that last link below the Conference Room. I love reading my co-writers’ posts at the cafeteria, and I swear that since the day I became active in some threads, I got so busy that I barely even visited my Facebook account (You should see my pet Churva. She badly needs a bath now. I remember the last time I visited her, there are two to three flies overhead and I scrubbed her thoroughly as if I was scraping a block of ice for the halo-halo). I go straight to the Cafeteria once I was logged in just to read the newest posts. In fact, I spend more time just reading and posting replies to the threads than browsing the Conference Room for new assignments. Hey, but I love Ezzy’s new posts, too!

I believe there’s something in this cafeteria that makes me feel blessed being a part of EPH. Maybe it’s the presence of real people who are behind those funny and entertaining posts. Yes, I may not personally know these guys, but with every honest post they write almost everyday, I think I could make a picture of each of these spammers. Koalapenguin loves toyomansi with ketchup. Jzumari uses the stairs just to avoid the cute med guy at the elevator. Allrock shivers when there’s something (or someone) lurking in the dark outside his window. Pinkcaramel sings along with some Korean tunes. Mralvarez always complains about his lappy, and Yoannacaleb is always frustrated about his attackers. These people are like old friends to me. I think I really know them from long time ago even if I seldom visit their profiles. Who they are and what they do always reflect on their posts at the cafeteria. Just visit the threads “Random Thoughts” and “Talk to Yerself”, both created by Juvien. By the way, I have made a mental note to track down the perpetrators of such amusing threads and see why they are not as active as before (except of course for allrock and jzumari who recently added new topics despite the fact that their threads may be ignored…just like mine).

It may sound funny but I swear that you can learn something new just by reading the posts at the cafeteria. Actually, I first heard about “jejemons” through the 3-Way Description Game. Okay, so for a more serious info (?), I learned that “dampi-dampi” is the right Tagalog term for gently swabbing the arms with a wet towel. Sometimes I wonder if these guys purposely add such “educational tools” to their seemingly nonsensical thoughts.

I have a bad case of overacting so it’s only natural that my co-writers’ frustrations and lachrymose posts easily move me. Whenever they are feeling a little gloomy, I silently sympathize with them. It just feels great that there are writers who are very supportive of each other. I don’t want to start a tsismis, but if you’re curious about these people’s identities, you should visit the cafeteria right away and see for yourself.

So there, I think you have had enough. We can’t discuss all there is to know about the good old Cafeteria. Somehow, you can just visit the place anytime. I encourage you to do so. I want to see some new avatars along with the “pioneers”. See you there soon!
